Ep 726: The Cokie Tribute Show and Comedian Iliza Shlesinger
Below The Belt Show (www.belowthebeltshow.com) sadly lost one of its own with the one and only Jason Lichstrahl also known as Dr. Lick and even more so known as Cokie. Cokie always provided comic relief and controversy on our podcast over the years and entertained us all every Christmas with his twisted unique take on his Christmas songs. His brand of humor was raunchy, but pushed the envelope and we will miss him very much on our show. Cokie was just a few days shy of his birthday on June 20th but sadly unexpectedly passed away on June 17th. We assembled a panel of BTB co-hosts from the OGs of the show to some of the new blood, all of whom were impacted by Cokie. We cry a little and we laugh a lot and talk about all the fond memories of Cokie both behind the mic and outside the studio as our friend. In addition we showcase some great soundclips including Cokie discussing his PhD in Lickalottapus, turning on Floyd Mayweather’s baby mama Josie Harris with such skills, his stand up comedy debut at the Baltimore Comedy Factory and of course his first and last Christmas Parody songs. In addition we present a throwback interview from 2012 as BTB’s Al Sotto, Flex, guest singer/songwriter Ric Peters and Cokie talk to actress and comedian extraordinaire Iliza Shlesinger. This is the interview that started Cokie to live out his dream on stage as a stand up comedian when Iliza invited Cokie to open up for her!
BTB’s host with the most Al Sotto and co-host “The King of the 80s” Chachi McFly bring to you another entertaining program! This week on the tribute panel for our late great friend we welcome back our “Resident Rockstar” Flex, Sabrina Taylor-Smith and actor Johnny Alonso! Making cameos on the show we welcome “The Captain” Big Nick, Ali Dash, Morgan Fabulous, Mike “The General” and a close friend of the show and Cokie, actress Amber “Art” Nelson. All of us discuss how Cokie was so unique, unforgettable and unapologetic and how we miss him very much! RIP Cokie until we see you again!
